International workshop on lifelong learning, Shanghai

In 2025, I had the opportunity to support the international policy workshop on lifelong learning systems organised by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and Shanghai Open University. This year’s edition brought together education leaders and technical specialists from five countries - China, Indonesia, Maldives, Philippines and Zimbabwe - to discuss emerging frameworks and alignments between national priorities and international norms.

My contributions spanned preparatory research, briefing materials and facilitation support. I was particularly interested in how different delegations articulated their priorities and challenges and the role that dialogue with peers plays in sharpening national strategies. Events like this are valuable not just for their formal outcomes, but for the relationships and shared language they build among national teams working on similar issues.
